3 Rifles receive the Freedom of the City of Sunderland

This Honorary Freedom is recognition of the regiment's links to Sunderland in the past, the present and in the future
Soldiers from 3 Rifles were supported by the Band and Bugles of The Rifles.

Also honoured today, the Survivors of the 125th Anti-tank Regiment
 

I am proud to say that the people of Sunderland showed great respect for the
Riffles today as they received the “Freedom of the City of Sunderland”

Also the respect shown to the Veterans of not only of the DLI but of all the forces on parade

It’s and honour to represent the people of the City of  Sunderland at these occasions, remembering the sacrifice our armed forces have made and continue to make on our behalf’s to secure our freedom and protect our way of life.  We, the people of Sunderland, join the rest of Great Britain in saying we will remember them”
